Tips for buying foundations ( drugstore and high-end)

Finding the right foundation or base can be a very lengthy and costly process, so here are a few tips to find the perfect base:

  • Think about what you are looking for , a high coverage foundation ? , medium coverage ? or something lighter like a BB cream.  Once you have decided this you can move on to the next step!

  • Think  about what features your foundation needs to include. if you have oily skin maybe you want something that has a long lasting power. If you have dry skin you may want something that is going to be moisturizing. Do you want SPF in your foundation. Do you have blemish prone skin ? if so maybe you want something that has anti blemish solutions in it.

  • Look online and in shops for foundations that claim to do what you want. This is where you need to think about how much you are willing to spend. Some foundations are amazing and they can be so inexpensive but others can also be amazing but really costly. Its about what is right for you!

  • Watch loads of you tube videos and read blog reviews of these foundations. This way you are going to get an honest review and are less likely to waste your money. Make sure the reviews you are watching or reading have the same sort of skin type as you, so if you have oily skin watch reviews from people who also have oily skin. But remember everyone is different.

  • Once you have got a foundation in mind go shopping!
  1. HIGH END FOUNDATION SHOPPING; if the foundation you have found is a high end then getting the right shade will be super easy as it will be matched for you! Remember the girls who work behind the counters are professionals and know what they are doing. PLEASE ASK FOR TESTERS. every beauty counter should be able to give you a tester. After all you are spending quite a bit of money ! IF they don't provide testers ask them to do your makeup with that foundation and then ask if its okay to come back later on in the day to purchase it. This way you can see how the foundation holds up on your skin over a few hours. Plus its an excuse to do some more shopping ;)

     2. DRUGSTORE FOUNDATION SHOPPING:   Unfortunately you can't get testers in drugstores for makeup but if you go on certain brand websites there may be samples that can be delivered through the post. Also some drugstore brands have shade tests on their websites, you will be asked series of questions and then recommended a shade. When you go in to drugstore shops to get your foundation take someone with you and a mirror! Testers should be put on display and so you should test shades on your face never on your hands! Test from your jawline down to your neck and on your forehead and nose area. Get your friend or check in a mirror if one is at hand that the foundation has completely blended in. Then there you have it; the perfect shade!

Remember girls- your foundation should match your skin the best result is it matching so closely it looks like your skin.

So next time your buying a new foundation follow these steps and i hope you will be happy with the result!
